Dear Residents,
We had a busy meeting on the 13th March 2025 including detailed reports from both our Borough Councillors, Councillor Coombs and Councillor Gallagher, these are available in the minutes from the meeting of the Parish Council website. We decided the budget for the period 2025 -2026, which was set at £25,500, which should keep us ahead of any increases that we may face over the coming year. A planning application 24/01283/MAO which was granted outline planning permission by The Borough planning committee was discussed, in as much as we will try to ensure that whatever is built conforms to our Neighbourhood plan, keep a look out for the referendum, you should have your voting papers by now.
The footpath at the entrance to the playing field needs repair and we will be seeking quotes to improve the path. It has been decided that as there was little interest in the uptake of playing Boules on the pitch that it should be removed and returned to grass.
It was noted recently that the entry sign for Wilstead along Wilstead Road is in the wrong position according to our Neighbourhood Plan and Parish Boundary and should be at the entrance to the village where there is a brick sign, however, our approach to Borough was dismissed as being too difficult to change after 15 years. I would be interested if you have any views.
A regular in the Cotton End calendar is Village Tidy week, this will take place from 26th April to 3rd May. As always no need to volunteer, just turn up at the Village Hall on Saturday morning at 10:00am. Alternatively take a look around and if you see anything that needs tidying up feel free to tackle it by yourself. The goal is to make our village a best place to live.
Our next meeting is on Thursday 15th May at 7.30pm in the lounge of the social club at the Village Hall.
Andre Merel
