Message from the Chairman of the Parish Council

September  2024

Dear Residents,

Our latest meeting took place on the 12th September and we co-opted a new councillor following the resignation of Councillor Nicholls. I would like to thank Kelvin for his service to the Parish Council over the years and wish him all the best for the future. Our new councillor is Kieran Watts who I am sure will bring a new perspective to the Parish Council.

Our meeting was attended by both our Borough Councillors, Sarah Gallagher and Leigh Coombes who are both working hard on our behalf in the Halls of Bedford Borough. We were also delighted to be joined by Mayor Tom Wootten who noted some of the issues that we have not been getting adequate responses from Borough.

We were asked by a member of the public from Shortstown if they could run organised football sessions on our playing field on a Sundays. If you have any views on this let us know as it will be discussed at our next meeting. We have had new yellow Lines at Meeting Close installed and had the yellow lines at the entrance to wood Lane extended to improve road safety.

We discussed whether there should be school warning signs as you approach the school going north to Shortstown as it was evident that queues entering the school backed up almost to the blind bend and this will be looked into.

Our next meeting is on Thursday 10th October at 7.30pm in the lounge of the social club at the Village Hall.

Andre Merel

Chairman, Cotton End Parish Council                                 June 2024
